How to deal with new idea
In a business or a team, we usually face a situation when we want to implement new ideas. However, the difficulty is how to let other people like and be motivated of doing them.
I still remember when I was young, I was a picky eater. I rejected almost every food and only felt enjoyable with some of them. My dad went crazy with me those days. Today, it seems the past has its way to repeat itself, my son behaved exactly the same way I did in the past, he showed that he is not a food lover. As he is young, he likes ice cream instead of rice and eggs.
Obviously, I wondered "how can I make him want to eat more food?". I seemed to be stuck in the same way my dad used to be. One thing I can be sure of is that he likes to imitate what adults do, and to feel big and grown up. An idea came into my mind that I could buy cooking toys and play with him.

No need to wait, I bought some plastic cooking toys that simulate tools in the kitchen and started playing with him. He felt excited when cooking the rice and frying the eggs. He even made up the table clean so that he could put the food on the table. While playing, he told me "Dad, I am cooking" with a smile on his face. As it turns out, he started eating more food after he had played with kitchen toys.
I learned a lesson that I usually apply to my daily work as a people manager when it comes to new ideas. When we have a brilliant idea, instead of making people think it is ours, our job is to let them cook and stir the idea themselves. They will then regard it as their own, they will like it, and it will push the motivation of completing tasks forward.
Last but not least, it reminds me of one of Dale Carnegie's quotes: "People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing."
